PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device surely gripping an object regardless of its size even when the object is a box shape. SOLUTION: This gripping device 1 has a base member 10 installed on the front side tip of a slide mechanism, first and second arms 22 and 23 mutually rotatably arranged in the opening-closing direction around a pair of base shafts 20 and 21 arranged on the base member 10, third and fourth arms 26 and 27 mutually rotatably arranged in the opening-closing direction around a pair of auxiliary shafts 28 and 29 arranged on the base member on the outside of the base shafts, an opening-closing driving mechanism 30 for driving the first and second arms 22 and 23 in the opening-closing direction, and first and second claws 24 and 25 respectively installed on the tip of the first and third arms and the tip of the second and fourth arms and gripping the object by opening and closing while mutually keeping a gripping surface in substantially parallel.
