PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake body of a vacuum cleaner, which can improve durability of a motor for driving a rotary cleaner, being safe even when it is inverted. SOLUTION: A suction head body 11 having a dust suction port 18 is provided with a rotary cleaner 21 facing the dust suction port 18, and a built-in motor for driving the rotary cleaner 21. The suction head is also provided with a negative pressure detecting valve 31 having an actuator 33 to be driven by the pressure difference between the suction negative pressure in the body 11 itself and outside air pressure, as well as an on/off switch 41 which turns on or off the driving power to be applied to the motor depending on the movement of the actuator 33.
