<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake air amount control device for an internal combustion engine for securing an optimum intake air amount (new air intake amount) depending on the operated condition of the internal combustion engine by suitably controlling a VNT variable blade angle and an EGR valve opening while considering both of them, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: The intake air amount (new air intake amount) control device A is provided with the internal combustion engine (an automobile engine 1) having a variable blade turbocharger (VNT 2) and the exhaust recirculation device (an EGR system 6).
