PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pit structure of an elevator without damaging waterproof mortar by extremely avoiding the execution of anchor bolts on a pit wall. SOLUTION: A support for supporting the floating load of a machine pedestal 3 in which a traction machine 5 is placed is provided at a pit section 1, by arranging the traction machine 5 at a hoistway pit section 1 and supporting the floating load of the traction machine 5 generated by a main roper 4 by the pit section 1. The support is one of a fixing hole or a groove 2 for fixing the machine pedestal executed on the sidewall of the pit section 1, a floating preventing bracket 7 installed on the sidewall of the pit section 1, the machine pedestal 3 in which the traction machine 5 is placed, and a pit unit 8 for supporting the floating load of the traction machine 5 by its dead weight.
