PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material excellent in membrane transparency and image preservability, and an image forming method. SOLUTION: The black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material has an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on one surface of a support, wherein the photosensitive silver halide has an average silver iodide content of≥40 mol%,≥50% of the total projected area of the silver halide is occupied by grains whose projected area diameter is 0.3-5μm, and the binder is a hydrophilic binder.
