PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume hologram photosensitive composition capable of realizing a hologram excellent in luminance and excellent also in heat resistance and mechanical strength, and to provide a volume hologram recording photosensitive medium using the composition. SOLUTION: The volume hologram photosensitive composition contains a photoreactive monomer, a photoinitiator, a sensitizing dye for sensitizing the initiator and a binder resin, wherein the binder resin comprises a thermosetting resin and a thermoplastic resin in a mixing ratio adjusted such that when the photosensitive composition is formed as a volume hologram, a main glass transition temperature of the hologram becomes≥50°C.
