PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubrication structure for a piston for an internal combustion engine increasing lubricating oil retention capacity. SOLUTION: The piston 1 for the internal combustion engine is provided with a skirt part 13. The lubrication structure for the piston 1 for the internal combustion engine is provided with a groove part 15 from one end side to another end side on an outer circumference surface in a thrust direction of the skirt part 13. A wall part 21 is provided on one end and another end of the groove part 15 and both ends 17 of the groove part 15 are blocked to form an oil reservoir on an outer circumference surface of the skirt part 13. Preferably, the groove part 15 is formed in an upper and lower unsymmetrical shape deeper in a lower side than in an upper side to increase lubricating oil retention capacity further.
