PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of conventional shell-cleaning apparatuses wherein shelves can not smoothly be conveyed and are thereby damaged. SOLUTION: This shell surface-cleaning machine in which a shell conveyer 4 is disposed above a shell-conveying path 3 and which is equipped with stain-removing tools 5a, 5b projected from the outside of the shell-conveying path 3 into the shell-conveying path 3 during the conveyance to remove the stains on the surfaces of shells is characterized by disposing a press member for downward pressing the lower travel portion 32 of a rotary traveler to press conveying pieces to shells in the shell-conveying path 3. The shell-conveying path 3 and the shell conveyer 4 are separately formed. The exit side of the shell conveyer 4 is rotatably attached to the shell-conveying path 3, and the entrance side can upward be opened at an attached portion on the exit side as a support point. The exit side of the lower travel portion of the rotary traveler is upward inclined. A universal joint 22 is disposed at the end of the entrance side of the rotation shaft of the stain-removing tool.
