PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a troidal type continuously variable transmission capable of making a starter clutch smaller and prevented from rotating a contact part between an input/output disc and a power roller in a condition of nonlubrication even in the case that a vehicle body is pushed and moved while an engine is stopped and the starter clutch is disengaged. SOLUTION: An input shaft 4 rotated and driven by the engine E, an output shaft 7 for taking out power based on rotation of the input shaft and a variator 2 provided between the input shaft and the output shaft are provided and the variator is composed of an input disc 6 for interlocking with the input shaft, an output disc 8 coaxially provided with the input disc and a power roller 9 provided between the input disc and the output disc in a manner rollably contacting and tiltably rolling. A first power transmission route 11 of engine driving force via the variator and a second power transmission route 17 without using the variator of the engine and a planet gear mechanism 3 for outputting the driving force by using these output as input and the starter clutch 23 are provided and the starter clutch 23 is provided between the variator and the planet gear in the first power transmission route.
