PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for enhancing visibility and operability when data recorded on a recording medium or the like are browsed and searched. SOLUTION: When a particular setting (bracket photographing or the like) is made in the imaging apparatus, identifier information whereby the same setting can be discriminated is attached to photographed image data and thumbnail pictures generated on the basis of the image data, and the resulting data and the resulting thumbnail pictures are recorded. When the thumbnail pictures are read on the basis of the identification information, if there exist the thumbnail pictures to which the identification information, whereby the same setting can be discriminated, is attached, a representative thumbnail picture is selected among them, prescribed graphic processing is applied to the representative thumbnail picture to generate thumbnail list image data together with other thumbnail pictures, and the image data are displayed on a screen.
