PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem; when a bit deviation occurs on a synchronization pattern, a synchronization position is deviated by the bit deviation amount and a correct data cannot be read from an optical disk, and this causes a read error. SOLUTION: The synchronization detector detects a mark length and a space length of the data acquired from the optical disk (2), and detects, using this detection results, a specific pattern (inherent pattern) of the mark length and the space length which are not present in a data string for reproduction, and a specific pattern (attribute pattern) of the mark length and the space length which indicate the position of the data for reproduction (20, 22). Then, the deviation of the inherent pattern is measured according to the lengths from the attribute pattern up to each edge in the inherent pattern (24), and a data synchronization position is corrected therewith (26).
