<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element usable for a reflection or semitransmission type liquid crystal display, and whose flatness is high even though it has a light scattering property. <P>SOLUTION: An intermediate layer 2 is formed on the surface of a transparent substrate 1, and a scattering layer 3 constituted of three-dimensionally crosslinked polymerizable liquid crystal material is formed on the intermediate layer 2. The scattering layer 3 shows the scattering property with respect to the incident light L1, and the incident light L1 scatters forward and backward on the scattering layer 3. When the optical element is incorporated in the reflection type liquid crystal display, the optical element functions as the light scattering layer, and a viewing angle property can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
