PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic type fluid treating apparatus and method performing magnetic treatment of water and other fluids compactly with high efficiency. SOLUTION: At least two column members 1 comprising at least a pair of magnet 2 arranged to sandwich a roughly fan-shaped metal sheet 3 and disposing the same polarities to be faced to each other are erected in parallel so that the end parts of the metal sheets 3 have the same polarities and are adjacent at constant intervals in the same plane to form a fluid passage 3b. This is housed inside a casing having a mouth for allowing fluid to flow in and out. The fluid is passed through the fluid passage 3b to cause both facing magnetic fluxes of two reverse directions when the pair of adjacent metal sheet is the north pole and both separating magnetic fluxes of two reverse directions when the pair is the south pole to act on the fluid for magnetic treatment.
