<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a direct liquid supply type fuel cell enhancing energy density. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode-membrane assembly 10 in which a pair of air electrode and fuel electrode are joined through an electrolyte comprising a proton conductive polymer membrane is interposed between a separator 20 having a fuel passage 23 through which liquid fuel is supplied to the fuel electrode and a reaction product is exhausted from the fuel electrode and a separator 20 having an air passage 22 through which air is supplied to the air electrode and a reaction product is exhausted from the air electrode, and they are stacked to form a cell stack 1.
