CATALYST PARTICLE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly produce in a liquid phase a catalyst particle consisting of a base particle having a nano-meter order primary particle size and made of one kind of a single fine particle or a solid solution fine particle of two or more kinds, and one or more kinds of metals covering at least a part of the surface of the base particle.

SOLUTION: The base particle 1 having the nano-meter order primary particle size and made of one kind of the single fine particle or the solid solution fine particle of two or more kinds and a metal precursor 3 are mixed with a solvent 4. By exposing the solvent 4 in which the base particle 1 and the metal precursor 3 are mixed to an ultrasonic wave, a metal coating layer 2 consisting of the metal fine particle having the nano-meter order particle size or several atomic layers, the metal of which is obtained by the reduction of the metal precursor 3, is precipitated on the surface of the base particle 1.
