The invention relates to a natural, chewable, nutritious toy for domestic pets, having odontological properties. The inventive toy is made from powdered dehydrated cattle hide, which is mixed with starch, glycerine, Lactobacillus, preservatives, beef or chicken flavouring agents, vegetable or fruit flavouring agents and colouring agents. All of the aforementioned ingredients are mixed and homogenised such as to produce a paste. According to the invention, the paste is injected into a mould using an injection-moulding machine, at a pressure of between 1,000 and 1,500 pounds per square inch and at between 50 and 80 DEG C. In this way, following stripping and drying until 10 % humidity is reached, a product is obtained, which can take different forms, namely that of a bone, biscuit, stick, etc. The product thus obtained is consistent and can be used to help maintain the animal's teeth. |
