PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester polymerization catalyst for obtaining polyesters which makes the best use of polymerization activities, one of advantages of titanium compounds and suppresses the problem of discoloration caused by thermal deterioration, one of the defects of titanium compounds. SOLUTION: A titanium polymerization catalyst (A) comprising reaction products of a titanium orthoester or a condensed orthoester represented by the formula: R<SB>1</SB>O[Ti(OR<SB>1</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O]<SB>n</SB>R<SB>1</SB>(wherein R<SB>1</SB>is a 1-12C alkyl group; and n is an integer of 1-20), an alcohol bearing at least two hydroxy groups, an organic phosphorous compound bearing a P-OH group and/or a 2-hydroxycarboxylic acid and a base, and an aluminum polymerization catalyst (B): comprising an aluminum compound and a phosphorous compound are separately prepared. These polymerization catalysts are simultaneously or separately used thereby to improve the polymerization activities and the problem of discoloration caused by thermal deterioration.
