A concrete mix comprises cement (Portland, aluminous or refractory) granulated slag forming, or capable of reduction to, a fine aggregate, and hard slag forming a coarse aggregate. "Granulated slag" means slag produced by rapidly cooling molten slag e.g. with water jets, and "hard slag" means slag produced by gradually cooling molten slag, e.g. in the ambient air. Preferably both slags are iron blast-furnace slags. The granulated slag may be reduced to a fine aggregate during the mixing of the concrete to a plastic mass with water.
|
