PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strainer which permits the housing of a filter having a large filtration area by securing the size of a filter housing part and facilitates the layout by making the strainer compact. SOLUTION: The filter housing part 4 is formed in a hollow plate shape extended in the vertical direction. The plate-like filter is housed into the filter housing part 4. The filter housing part 4 is divided into an upstream side member 10 provided with an upstream side wall part 12 and a downstream side member 11 provided with a downstream side wall part 28. A suction pipe part 16 which is communicated with the inside of the filter housing part 4 and is extended to the outer part is integrally formed on the upstream side wall part 12 of the filter housing part 4. A suction port 2 is formed on the tip of the suction pipe part 16. An outflow pipe part 31 which is communicated with the inside of the filter housing part 4 and is extended to the outer part is integrally formed on the downstream side wall part 28 of the filter housing part 4.
