PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and image processor capable of improving image quality by accurately setting the amount of black ink. SOLUTION: This image processor is provided with a coloring material amount calculation part 231 for extracting image data to be a conversion candidate from input image data, an overall evaluation value calculation part 234 for calculating an image quality evaluation value about the image quality of an image outputted on the basis of the image data according to each feature amount of the image data, an optimum coloring material amount calculation part 235 for calculating the amount of black ink on the basis of the image quality evaluation value, and an evaluation value coefficient creating part 233 for creating a coefficient for weighting a plurality of feature amounts used when the overall evaluation value calculation part 234 calculates an image evaluation value from the feature amount of the image data.
