HORIZONTAL INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE COMPRISING A TURNING DEVICE

Conventional horizontal injection molding machines comprise a stationary turning device for turning the mold halves about a vertical axis and two mold clamping plates that are mounted on a machine bed to be movable along a machine longitudinal axis. These conventional injection molding machines were problematic in that the size of the molded parts produced in these injection molding machines was limited since the turning device was configured with a rigid frame through which tie bars of the injection molding machine were guided. The aim of the invention is therefore to provide a horizontal injection molding machine that can be used in large installations with large-size mold halves and that allows for a rotary mode as well as a reversible four-step mode of operation. The horizontal injection molding machine should also be suitable for clean-room applications. For this purpose, the turning device (26) comprises a base (28) and a rotary table (30) rotatably mounted on said base (28). The base (28) is stationarily arranged on a machine bed (2) between the two movable mold clamping plates (6, 8) and the turning device (26) is dissociated from the tie bars (14).
