PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for generating an error detection information bit string for determining a length of data string.

SOLUTION: This apparatus for generating an error detection information bit string comprises a plurality of registers mutually connected in series; a plurality of adders; an operator for generating a feedback bit string at the time of receiving the control information string and providing it to the adder, and adding a previously set input bit to a bit output from the register of the last position after completion of receiving the control information string; and an initial value controller for providing one of selected two initial values to the register.
