The invention relates to the use of a composition containing synergistic amounts of antioxidants selected from the group consisting of: - Vitamin E- Beta-carotene- Vitamin C- Selenium- an extract of Lycopersicum esculentum- an extract of Vitis vinifera, and optionally a suitable carrier material for preparing a pharmaceutical composition, food supplement or cosmetic for protecting the skin from UV rays, ageing under the effect of UV rays and/or inflammatory processes.
