PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly reduce engine torque in synchronization with shift up gear shift operation while suppressing worsening of emission due to lag of ignition time when reducing gear shift shock using ignition time lag control of an engine and power generation amount control of an alternator together to eliminate gear shift shock in an automobile provided with an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: Ignition time lag control is inhibited in a low temperature condition in which, in particular, combustion may be worsened, and engine torque is reduced by control of increase of power generation amount. Control of increase of power generation amount is performed while performing ignition time lag control in priority in a condition in which temperature is comparatively high even before warming up to reduce engine torque. In any case, power generation amount is increased to increase driving torque of the alternator 17 by amount equivalent to demand torque reduction amount. If required torque reduction cannot be achieved even by increasing power generation amount to the maximum extent, power generation amount is reduced in advance before starting gear shift.
