PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scanning unit that is earthed simply and inexpensively. SOLUTION: The laser scanning unit comprising an insulative box body 1 storing a laser light source, a scanning optical system and the like, and a metal cover body 20 blocking an opening of the upper face of the box body 1 is provided with a metal plate 30 on a first attaching part 10 of the box body 1 being an attaching part to a base frame 40 of an image forming apparatus. Concerning the metal plate 30, a lower end 30b is arranged on a bottom wall 10a of the first attaching part 10, and an upper end 30c is press-fitted on the inner face of the cover body 20. In the laser scanning unit, the lower end 30c of the metal plate 30 is tightened with a metal screw 45 together with a bottom wall 30a of the first attaching part 10 to the base frame 40 to be attached to the image forming apparatus.
