PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer unit and an image forming apparatus which aim at enhanced image quality by actively diminishing a rotative direction vibration component by applying vibration having the same frequency and amplitude as rotational vibration generated in the transfer belt unit and having phase reverse to that of the rotational vibration to a rotation driving system. SOLUTION: Image forming units 200 for respective colors and the transfer unit for multi-transferring toner images of different colors formed by the image forming units to an endless belt 202, 235 are arranged and the transfer unit is equipped with a vibration generating means 232 to cancel vibration in a rotative direction generated in the endless belt by applying rotative direction vibration whose phase is reverse to that of the above vibration in the rotative direction through a non-image-formation area of the endless belt, wherein the vibration transmission part of the vibration generating means comprises a cylindrical member which comes in contact with the endless belt under rotation.
