<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver for which the avalanche multiplicative factor of an APD can be controlled appropriately. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receiver 1 is provided with a PIN potodiode 13, which has an incident surface 13a for receiving signal light and transmits part of the signal light to the other surface 13z on the opposite side of the incident surface 13a, and an avalanche photodiode 11 which has an incident surface 11a for receiving the light transmitted through the photodiode 13. In the optical receiver 1, the avalanche photodiode 11 is disposed in between the PIN photodiode 13 and the principal surface 41a of a stem 41, and receives the light transmitted via the PIN photodiode 13 through an opening 50h provided in a mounting section 50b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
