PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently carry out inexpensive image processing which can be flexibly shared by and adaptable to even a recording system for a color image recording processing system and a monochromatic image recording processing system by distributing loads on a first arithmetic processing function and a second arithmetic processing function.

SOLUTION: An image data control section receives a color image signal separated into colors, assigns a plurality of color separation signals used for an image forming means to a first arithmetic processing unit 300-1 and generates the signals, assigns at least the image signal in one color among the generated color separation signals to second arithmetic processing units 300-2 to 300-5, and the image forming means generates either a color image or an image signal for recording a monochromatic image.
