PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open-top container for which a conventional top lifter can be used directly. SOLUTION: The open-top container 1 has pillars 3, each having an engaging hole 2 for a lock pin of a top lifter at a given level, at four corners of a floor structure 4. Each pillar 3 is composed of a lower pillar 5 and an upper pillar 6, which are coupled together via a pivot shaft 7. The lower pillar 5 is fixed to the floor structure 4 together with a gable fixed wall 8 and a side fixed wall 9, and the upper pillar 6 can be tilted on the pivot shaft 7 to place the upper end 6a of the upper pillar 6 on the upper face of the side fixed wall 9. With this structure, the open-top container 1 can be made as high as a conventional open-top container having gable fixed walls 8, the side fixed walls 9, sideboards 25, and no pillars.
