PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp which can maintain high luminous efficiency and can suppress cracks and peeling at a bending portion and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp is composed of a bulb made to have a curved part of which centers of curvatures of an inside face and an out side face coincide with each other, and the diameter is nearly same as that of a straight part, by heating and bending a part to be bent of a straight-tube shaped bulb, having electrodes at both ends so as to form a discharge path through the straight part and the curved part, in which, a discharging medium containing mercury is sealed, a phosphor layer which is formed on the inner face of the bulb and of which the coating amount at the bending part is smaller than that at the the straight tube part, and bases provided at both ends of the bulb.
