<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the enlargement of a gap caused by thermal influence causing this gap to the unevenness of a straight line degree on the edge surfaces of blanks when both blanks to be welded are abutted on a surface board. <P>SOLUTION: An inspection head (CCD camera) 9 is moved together with a laser beam welding head 8 at the initial stage on a lot production of the tailored blanks to observe the size of the gap at the welding parts (abutting parts Q).
