PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small shovel which enables the efficient layout of equipment and the like by eliminating a dead space on an upper structure. SOLUTION: In this small shovel, the upper structure is swingably mounted on an undercarriage; a hydraulic oil tank, hydraulic equipment and the like, which are mounted on a revolving frame of the upper structure, are housed in a guard panel 5b; notches 19d and 19d' are formed in a part of a side wall of the hydraulic oil tank 19; and the hydraulic equipment 21 is arranged in such a manner as to correspond to the notches 19d and 19d'.
