1275075 Disc brake pad SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 May 1969 [6 Sept 1968] 26931/69 Heading F2E A disc brake pad comprises a backing plate 3 and a friction lining 2, the mass of the pad being unsymmetrical such that the centre of gravity of the pad is spaced from the centre of the pad. In the construction shown the mass is made unsymmetrical by the provision of a metal strip 4. A metal piece may be connected to an outside corner of the backing plate (Fig. 3, not shown) or the friction lining has a piece cut from an outside corner (Fig. 4, not shown). In the latter case unsymmetrical apertures may be provided in the backing plate for securing the friction lining and for further effecting unsymmetrical mass. The thickness of the friction lining may be varied.
