PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode ray tube of high brightness and high contrast including a filter with good transmitting property. SOLUTION: In this color cathode ray tube according to the present invention, a filter layer, e.g. a blue filter, of which transmission factor of light having a wave length 455 nm is larger than that of light having a wave length 550 nm, is provided in blue and green light emission areas on an inner surface of a panel, and green and red filter layers are provided in green and red light emission area on the blue filter layer, respectively.
