摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve prevention of rattling of spline engagement after abrasion or the like is generated while slide resistance of spline engagement is reduced in a telescopic shaft. <P>SOLUTION: This telescopic shaft comprises a middle shaft 2 for a vehicle steering device having an inner surface part 14 with a male spline 15 inserted into a cylindrical outer shaft part 13 with a female spline 16. A slit 21 of prescribed length is formed from an opening end 18 of the outer shaft part 13, so that an elastically shrinkable diameter shrinkable part 23 is formed. A tightening member 25 to elastically tighten the diameter shrinkable part 23 is provided. The diameter shrinkable part 23 partially includes a thin part 33 to increase flexure quantity due to tightening of the tightening member 25. By setting the diameter shrinkable part 23 to be easily flexed, larger abrasion quantity in spline engagement can be followed up, and tightening force of the tightening member 25 can thus be reduced without rattling. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
