PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy duty, pneumatic radial-ply tire capable of preventing a turnup edge part of a carcass layer from separating and enhancing the durability of a casing. SOLUTION: The heavy duty, pneumatic radial-ply tire includes the carcass layer 4 structured so that steel cords are installed between a left and a right bead part 3, 3 in such a way as arranged in the tire radial direction and folded back round bead cores 5 embedded in the bead parts 3, wherein an organic fiber reinforcing layer 8 consisting of a rubber-lined material of organic fiber cords is affixed in U-turn form to the turnup edge part 4a of the carcass layer 4. It is preferable that the organic fiber cords of the reinforcing layer 8 are inclined 20°-70°with respect to the steel cords of the carcass layer 4. The overlapping widths W<SB>1</SB>and W<SB>2</SB>for the turnup edge part 4a of the reinforcing layer 8 should preferably be made equal to or more than 5 mm on both sides of the U-turn apex.
