<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily repair a defective unit cell without damaging a reaction membrane. <P>SOLUTION: A membrane electrode assembly (MEA) 25 comprising a solid electrolyte 31, an anode 33, and a cathode 35 is installed between an anode side separator 1 and a cathode side separator 3. A gas passage groove 5 communicating with a manifold Mai is installed on a surface facing the MEA 25 of the anode side separator 1, an elastically deformable gas shutting off member 51 is installed in a gas shutting off member housing recess 49 in the vicinity of the manifold Mai of the gas passage groove 5.
