摘要	<p>There is provided a current limiting device for preventing flow of excessive current into an AC current carrying path, for example, by a shortcircuit accident. A series circuit of a superconductor and a current cut-off element is inserted into an AC current carrying path and a current limiting fixed coil is connected in parallel to the series circuit. A movable conductor is connected to a movable contact of the current cut-off element. A movable conductor plate inducing eddy current by an external line of magnetic force and generating a line of magnetic force by it is mounted on the movable conductor in such a manner that an external line of magnetic force is used as a line of magnetic force generated from the current limiting fixed coil while the line of magnetic force generated according to the eddy current is used as a line of magnetic force repelling the line of magnetic force generated from the current limiting fixed coil and accordingly, the movable conductor is operated in a stat that the movable contact of the current cut-off element is not in contact with the fixed contact.</p>
