A non-human animal, characterized in that it expresses the following: a FRET system consisting of a donor linked to an acceptor by a molecule, a biologically active substrate, whereby the presence of said biological activity results in modification of fluorescent emission; or a FRET system consisting of a donor and an acceptor which are both coupled to a molecule whereby interaction between the two molecules results in modification of e fluorescent emission.
