PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable driving such as a hill start and step overriding to be conducted without imposing an excessive load to a switching element of an inverter. SOLUTION: A DC of a battery 1 is converted to an AC by the inverter 3 and fed to an AC motor 4. A torque command 5 outputs an output torque commandτo on the basis of an acceleration signal A that indicates an accelerator pedalling amount. The inverter 3 is switching-controlled so that output torque corresponds to the output torque commandτo by a control circuit unit 6 and a gate drive circuit 9. When the acceleration signal A becomes maximum when reaching an extra low-speed traveling state, the output torque commandτo is left as maximum torque, and the driving such as step overriding is performed.
