PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muddy water treatment apparatus extending retention time of continuously supplied muddy water in an agitation tank without increasing the size of the tank, thereby obtaining a high agitation mixing efficiency. SOLUTION: This muddy water treatment apparatus is provided with the agitation tank 10 in which an agitation shaft 15 is rotatably provided in an axial direction in a horizontally disposed water tank 11, a coagulant is supplied to the muddy water continuously supplied from one side of the water tank 11, and the muddy water and the coagulant are agitated and mixed by the agitation shaft 15 and discharged from the other side of the water tank 11 ; and a settling tank 30 of cascade structure composed of multiple settling chambers under the agitation tank 10. The muddy water continuously discharged from the agitation tank 10 falling down through a duct 20 is supplied to a settling chamber 31 at one end, and supernatant is discharged to the outside from a settling chamber 35 at the other end. The agitation shaft 15 has reverse flow agitation blades 19 generating a reverse flow against the flow of the muddy water supplied continuously, delaying the muddy water flow from one side of the shaft 15 toward the other side, thereby extending agitation time of the muddy water and the coagulant in the agitation tank 10.
