PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an excellent magnetic layer atop the projecting part of a rugged substrate having the patterned ruggedness on its surface. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer 32 is formed with a thickness Mt satisfying Mt/L<1.8 on the surface of the top surface 37a of the projecting part 37 on the surface of the substrate 31 having the rugged pattern 36 of a width L in the track direction of the top surface 37a of the projecting part 37. Also, the rugged pattern 36 is so formed that the angleθon the inner side of of the projecting part 37 formed by an extension surface 38b of the surface 38a of a recessed part 38 into the projecting part 37 and a side face 37b of the projecting part 37 satisfies 75°≤θ<90°.
