The invention relates to method and device for applying labels from a continuous polymer strip. The inventive method consists in supplying a label strip (7) from a spool (6) to the surface of a vacuum drum (14), in applying glue on the surface of the strip, in cutting the strip into separate labels, in moving containers (4) to a label application position, in pressing the label to the container and in removing containers (5) provided with a glued label. The cutting of the label strip is carried out in to two steps, wherein at the first stage, the label strip is heated to a melting point of the strip material along a traced cutting line and at the second stage, the label is impulsively displaced in a direction away from the rest of the label strip at a speed greater than the travel speed thereof. The cutting device comprises two drive rollers (18, 19) which are arranged near the drum (14), wherein the first roller (18) is provided with a cutting blade arranged thereon and with an electric heater disposed thereinside, the second roller is embodied in such a way that the surface thereof contacts the vacuum drum surface and the drives of the rollers are synchronised with each other. |
