The cap has an insert (3) with an inner head (30) and a threaded inner skirt (31). A metallic shell (4) has an outer head and an outer skirt (41). The outer skirt has a cylindrical part (42) of height (H1) and diameter (D1) adapted to a neck (2) to be corked. A radially expanded part (43) of height (H2) and of diameter D2 greater than the diameter D1 forms an annular radial cavity (48). An independent claim is also included for a method of fabricating a crow cap.
