PURPOSE: Trusted input for mobile platform transactions from a microcontroller is provided to remove needs for authenticating each component of a software code operated on the microcontroller of a computer system by offering a trusted input path for key matrix scan from keyboards/pointing devices on a mobile computer system. CONSTITUTION: The computer system includes a CPU(102), a chipset(107), and the microcontroller(160). The chipset is connected to the CPU and includes protection registers(120). The microcontroller performs the scan for receiving key matrix data by connecting to the chipset. As trusted software accesses the key matrix data through the protection registers, data authenticity is confirmed. A keyboard(170) provides keystroke data by connecting to the microcontroller.
