<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simple and secured input of characters for a symbol selecting device and method for selecting a predetermined symbol from a predetermined list. <P>SOLUTION: The symbol selecting device 1 comprises a memory part 10 storing the symbol list in which predetermined symbols are arranged, an operation part 11 for operating a point position of a virtual pointer which virtually moves on the symbol list stored in the memory part, an acceleration detection part for detecting acceleration per unit hour applied to the operation part, a moving direction determining part for determining moving direction of the virtual pointer, a moving part 23 for moving the virtual pointer by the unit of one symbol in a direction determined by the moving direction determining part, and a selecting part 24 for selecting a symbol currently pointed by the virtual pointer moved by the moving part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
