<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable providing a sufficient opening in a right-and-left direction by using parts near right and left upper peripheral edge walls of an airbag cover as hinge portions, and to allow an airbag to inflate/extend from the opening to protect a neck and the like of an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: In the airbag device 10 equipped with the airbag cover 20 attached to a steering wheel 11, the airbag cover 20 has a pad composing portion 21, the upper peripheral edge wall 22 projected from the pad composing portion to a back surface side, and a deployment line 23 formed on the back surface of the pad composing portion. The right and left extension lines forming an upper part opening piece 12 extending above the pad composing portion are set to be narrower than a distance between the right and left upper peripheral edge walls 22a, 22b of the airbag cover, and a side piece 18 is formed between the upper part opening piece 12 and the upper peripheral edge wall.
