摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the structure of an optical waveguide capable of increasing brightness of output light, a surface light source device capable of increasing usability of illumination light, a light source panel for liquid crystal display, and a liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The optical waveguide 1 is an optical waveguide on whose incident light is incident from a light source, and which propagates the incident light inside, outputs it from the outputting surface, and illuminates a display screen with the output light. A plurality of microscopic shaped parts 10 are disposed convexly or concavely in a scattered manner on at least one of the outputting surface of the optical waveguide and the surface opposite to the outputting surface. In the optical waveguide, the diameter to determine the size of the microscopic shaped parts is smaller than the interval of the pixels constituting the display screen.
