PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving apparatus in which personal information stored in an incorporated nonvolatile memory or an externally connected external memory is prevented from being newly stored in the nonvolatile memory or the external memory after the erasure of the personal information is instructed. SOLUTION: After the erasure of the personal information is instructed (step S53; YES), before erasing the personal information stored in the nonvolatile memory or the external memory, broadcasting is stopped being received and/or communicated (step S54), a program for utilizing a service for received data contents is disabled to be run (step S55) and further, personal information stored in a work memory for working is erased (step S56). After the personal information stored in the nonvolatile memory or the external memory (step S57), it is set that writing to the nonvolatile memory or the external memory is disabled (step S58), so that operations except for turning off a power source are not accepted (steps S60-S62).
