PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing method having excellent response to the reproduction demand of an information recording medium. SOLUTION: At a prescribed timing after the reproduction for a reproduction region in a region contained in a data region of the information recording medium is requested, whether data are recorded in the entire demanded reproduction region or whether a non-recorded region where data are not recorded exists in at least a part of the demanded reproduction region is determined (step 441). Since it is determined that the non-recorded region exists in the reproduction region to the information recording medium wherein data are recorded in only a part of the data region at a prescribed timing after that even when the reproduction of the region containing the region where data are not recorded are accidentally demanded as the reproduction region, an abnormal process can be performed for a time shorter than conventional one.
